Sui Nokia Lumia 800 e 710 recentemente presentati manca un’importante funzione, che gli altri Windows Phone in uscita ora (o usciti di recente) hanno: il tethering.
La versione Mango 7.5 infatti supporta questa funzione, ma sta ai produttori (e agli operatori) decidere se abilitarla o meno.
Una spiegazione alla scelta di Nokia c’è, e a quanto pare verrà anche posto rimedio a breve. In un’intervista a Nokia da parte di WinRumor, infatti, possiamo leggere:
“Microsoft takes very seriously meeting (and exceeding) the requirements outlined by agencies such as the FCC in the USA. They felt it was really important to fully address the concerns raised by recent FCC regulations before enabling this feature and are optimistic they can deliver on these requirements though a software update and are working diligently on that now.”
In poche parole, per ora la funzione non è presente per problemi con le normative ma un aggiornamento software risolverà i problemi sollevati dalla FCC in merito a questa funzione.
Sempre da questa intervista emerge la motivazione della mancanza della fotocamera frontale e la volontà di lavorare con Microsoft sulle tecnologie NFC e dual SIM:
“Our ambition is to create the best possible consumer experience, based on the capabilities of the platform and what we believe offers a genuine opportunity to bring value to Nokia users everyday. It is possible to cram a phone with features that users don’t want or use and the end result is a compromise somewhere else, in cost, size or absence of alternative features. For features not currently supported by Windows Phone such as NFC or dual SIM we are working with our partner Microsoft to determine the top priorities for future iterations of the platform.”
Secondo Nokia questo è stato il compromesso migliore tra costi, dimensioni e assenza di alcune features spesso mai usate. Per quanto riguarda le due caratteristiche sopracitate, invece, aspettiamoci novità per i prossimi modelli made in Finland.
